A Review of Chicken Run

This week we watched a film called “Chicken Run”.

The film is about some chickens who try to escape from a farm.  They are being fattened up to be made into chicken pies by the evil owners of the farm, Mr and Mrs Tweedy.  An American Rooster called Rocky helps them to escape when he accidentally arrives at the farm.  It is an adventure story and a romance as Rocky falls in love with one of the chickens.  Her name is Ginger.  It is also a comedy with a lot of jokes in it.

The film was made and produced by the same people who made the Wallace and Gromit series of films using little models.

Most of the class really liked the film.  A few of us wrote that we loved the film and only one person didn’t like it. 

Words we used to describe the film were excellent, funny and interesting, great, fantastic, exciting, surprising and well made. 

Most of us had a favourite part of the film.  These were the chickens dancing, the chickens flying their home-made aeroplane and the part when Mrs Tweedy fell out of the plane trying to recapture the chickens.   A lot of us also liked the part when the chickens escaped and found a new life in a bird sanctuary.

Most of us would recommend the film to our friends but some of us were not sure.

Today after we wrote our reviews we did some carol singing in English.  We are learning how to ask and answer questions and we are beginning the past tense.  We have lots of work to do in 2012!

What was your favourite subject at school?

My favourite subjects were Literature and Philosophy.

Do you have a favourite book?

I have favourite writers.  They are André Gide, Thomas Mann and Shakespeare.

Which countries have you lived in?

I’ve lived in Italy, Greece, Spain, Argentina, Tunisia, Turkey, Morocco, Belgium and Luxembourg.

How many languages do you speak?

I can speak Italian, French, English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Greek and Arabic.  I also speak some Turkish and some Romanian.

What’s your favourite food?

I like pizza, chocolate, French fries and carrots.

Which is your favourite day of the week?

Friday afternoons.

Do you have a favourite film?

I like “Fanny and Alexander”, the Oscar winning film by Ingmar Bergman (1982) and “The Golden Age”, a historical drama about Queen Elizabeth I (2007).

My favourite subjects were languages: German and English.

I’ve lived in France, Germany, Italy and Luxembourg.

I speak French, Italian, German and English.

Italian pasta (penne ai 4 formaggi)

Oh, Saturday!

The Day my Sleeping Cat Fell off the Sofa and Other Stories....

What I did last Easter by T

Last Easter, my family and I went on a Caribbean cruise. We started the trip flying from Luxembourg to Puerto Rico. It almost took 24 hours. The name of the cruise ship was Serenade of the Sea. The ship can carry up to 2.500 passengers. There was a lot to do on the ship: swimming pools, minigolf, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, a casino, a cinema and very good restaurants. We eated a lot in Wind Jammer, and the food was exellent. It was also possible to make your own pizza.   

We visited 5 different islands - including Virgin Islands, and some beautiful beaches. We ended our holiday on a lovely hotel in Puerto Rico. 

I really want to go on a cruise again.

Interesting fact:  Denmark sold Virgin Islands to USA for 25 million US dollars because we really needed the money. Editor’s comment : are you sure this is true ? Perhaps the UK should sell something ? Would anyone miss the Isle of Wight ?

One day, my cat was sleeping on the sofa. Then he fell on the floor. He stretched out backwands in his sleep and he just carried on sleeping on the floor. So I put him back on the sofa in case anyone stepped on him!

Welcome to our class blog.  Life viewed through the eyes of nine year olds.

"You can't make an omelette without breaking eggs."

Sometimes things don't go to plan...some of the stories the children have chosen to tell reflect this.  It's not what goes wrong that defines us, but how we respond.  What do you do when the tortoises hide under the settee?  Or you loose the dogs?   Or your cat tries to stop you going on a picnic?


We all tend to focus on how well our children are doing at school, but let's be grateful for them and treasure them just as they are, for who they are.
